American Red Cross and Amica Insurance Celebrate 20-Year Partnership of Philanthropic Impact
The American Red Cross and Amica Insurance marked 20 years of philanthropic partnership with an event held on Jan. 22 at Amica headquarters. The gathering showcased Amica’s commitment to advancing the Red Cross’ mission of alleviating human suffering during times of disaster.
Susan Roberts, executive director of the American Red Cross in Rhode Island, presented the Community Impact Award to Ted Shallcross, Amica president and CEO. “At Amica, we are committed to strengthening our communities and supporting the humanitarian work of the Red Cross,” said Shallcross. “This partnership has been one of purpose, compassion, and impact.”
Over the past two decades, Amica has contributed more than $1 million in financial donations to the local Red Cross chapter. Additionally, the last three board chairs for the Rhode Island chapter have all been Amica executives.
Anthony Noviello, senior vice president of sales and client services at Amica and current board chair of the Rhode Island Red Cross, welcomed Amica employees and Red Cross staff to the celebration. Said Noviello, “This milestone represents two decades of shared dedication to making a difference. Together, we’ve responded to disasters, supported communities in need, and championed critical safety and preparedness programs.”
Richard Branigan, regional CEO of the American Red Cross in Connecticut and Rhode Island, reflected on Amica’s support of disaster response. “Just a few months ago, during back-to-back hurricanes in the Southeast, Amica stepped up with a generous donation, thanks to its foundation and employees. That generosity fuels our mission,” Branigan said, recounting his own deployment to hurricane-stricken Florida.
The event concluded with a Hands-Only CPR demonstration led by the Red Cross that emphasized the importance of preparedness for attendees.
