Finding the right shop to repair your vehicle after an accident can be stressful. As an Amica customer, you can always choose your own licensed repair shop, but if you need help selecting one, we’re here for you.
Amica’s Auto Repair Assistance Program includes more than 1,700 certified repair shops across the country. We guarantee any claim-related work done by our preferred shops for as long as you own the car.
As an added benefit, when you choose one of our preferred shops, we’ll issue payment for your covered repairs directly to them, so you won’t have to wait for a check in the mail. When your car is ready to be picked up, you’ll simply need to pay your deductible (if applicable).
Below is a list of every registered auto body repair shop in Massachusetts listed by county. Please note that Massachusetts state law requires all auto repair shops to be registered. An insurance company cannot pay for any repair work performed by an unregistered shop.
As an Amica customer, you can always choose your own registered repair shop, but if you need help selecting one, the shops that are a part of Amica’s Repair Assistance Program (RAP) and the Amica Referral Shop program are indicated as follows:
Amica RAP Shop
Our Repair Assistance Program (RAP) includes more than 1,700 certified repair shops across the country. Each of these shops meets the high quality and service standards set by Amica. Additionally, all Massachusetts RAP shops meet or exceed the quality standards set by the state of Massachusetts.
Our RAP shops provide hassle-free, Amica-quality service and trusted repairs, and we guarantee any claim-related work completed by them for as long as you own the car. When you select an Amica RAP shop, we’ll send them a repair assignment, and they’ll contact you to schedule a time to drop off your vehicle. The shop will collaborate directly with an Amica Appraiser to facilitate your repair process. When your car is ready to be picked up, you’ll simply need to pay your deductible (if applicable).
Amica Referral Shop
These shops meet the quality standards of the Massachusetts Referral Program. They are not part of our Repair Assistance Program as outlined above; however, we will guarantee any claim-related work completed by an Amica Referral Shop.

Auto Damaged? Here are your options.
If you intend to repair your damaged automobile you may select one of the following options:
1. You may choose a referral shop from the list provided in your search results. If you do, we will guarantee the materials and workmanship of the repair and the cost to you will usually not exceed our payment plus the amount of your deductible. You are responsible for any costs resulting from the use of parts that are of better quality than the parts that were on your automobile at the time of the accident. (Referred to as betterment or depreciation on the appraisal); OR 2. You may choose any other registered automobile repair shop from the list provided in your search results. We do not guarantee the quality of repairs at the other shops, but a registered shop has posted a bond for the protection of its judgment creditors and may provide you with its own warranty. If the shop charges you more than our payment plus the amount of your deductible for the repairs, we will negotiate with that registered repair shop, but we cannot promise that we will pay the difference. You are responsible for any costs resulting from the use of parts that are of better quality than the parts that were on your automobile at the time of the accident. (Referred to as betterment or depreciation on the appraisal); OR 3. You may choose not to participate in our Direct Payment/Referral Plan by returning the check to us and then have your automobile repaired in accordance with the Completed Work Claim Form procedure. Please see your automobile policy for details.
If you do not intend to repair your damaged automobile:
You may choose to cash our check and not repair your automobile. In this case, we will reduce the actual cash value of your automobile by the amount of our check plus the amount of your deductible. If you later give us proof of proper repair, the actual cash value will be increased. We have a right to inspect all repairs.
If you or your chosen repair shop dispute the accuracy of the appraisal or our payment to you, the following applies to you, referral shops and other registered repair shops:
You or the repair shop must notify us by telephone or in writing if the cost of repair is expected to exceed our payment plus the amount of your deductible. The notice must be received by us prior to the completion of repairs; otherwise, the additional cost may not be paid. We will evaluate the request and either authorize or deny any supplemental payment. You must allow us to inspect your automobile.
Sometimes there may be a disagreement as to the amount of money we owe for losses or damage to your automobile. If so, Massachusetts General Laws, Section 191 A of Chapter 175 provides for a method of settling the disagreement. Either you or we can, within 60 days after you file your proof of loss, demand in writing that appraisers be selected. The appraisers then follow a procedure set by law to establish the amount of damage. Their decision will be binding on you and us. You and we must share the cost of the appraisal.
