Amica Insurance Earns Worksite Health Award For Employee Well-Being

Amica Insurance was recognized with an Exemplary Worksite Health Award from Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) and the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce (the Chamber) for effective programs encouraging employee health and well-being in a meaningful way.

 “Wellness has been part of Amica’s culture for more than 50 years,” said Jean Tapley, Senior Benefits & Wellness Coordinator, Human Resources. We continue to enhance our programs each year based on employee feedback. And while it’s always wonderful to receive public recognition for our wellness efforts, the greatest reward is seeing that our programs have had a positive impact on the lives of our employees and their families.”

Amica was one of close to 50 Rhode Island businesses honored by BCBSRI and the Chamber with a Worksite Health Award at a breakfast attended by close to 50 Rhode Island Large Group Employers. The event celebrated local businesses who have demonstrated a commitment to improving Rhode Islanders’ overall health through innovative wellness programs, as companies and individuals.

Having annual visits with a primary care provider and an oral health professional is a health goal championed at Amica. Employees-along with their spouses-who complete annual medical and dental exams, can earn credit toward the employee’s Amica medical plan premium contributions. Through this and other incentives, Amica shares that 86% of employees covered by Blue Cross Blue Shield had a medical preventive care visit in 2023. Similarly, 73% of employees and their spouses had a dental preventive service in 2023.
